Laboratory Flask

Distinctly different from a beaker, a Laboratory Flask with the usual round-bottom & narrow-neck appearance has a narrow mouth used to prevent a solution from splash or fast evaporation and connect other glass equipment with a rubber stopper combined. Generally speaking, a flask is frequently taken as one container which carries solution reacting for a long period or heated backflow. Without a protruded mouth like a beaker, a flask has its own mouth which easily causes poured solution to flow along its outer wall. As a result, a glass stick is used to dab a Laboratory Flask mouth for the purpose of no solution flowing along the outer wall. Due to the flask’s narrow mouth inapplicable to the case of agitating a glass stick, the agitation, if necessary, needs a holder, who grasps the lip, to slightly turn his/her wrist for a smooth uniform agitation. To heat backflow, a magnetic stirrer should be placed inside the flask during stir of one heated agitator. Depending on their appearances, flasks can be divided into two types, Bunsen flask (shown in the top left figure) and round bottom flask (shown in the top right figure). In general, a Bunsen flask and a round bottom flask are usually applicable to a reaction at the room temperature and at higher temperatures respectively in virtue of the round bottom flask with uniform-thickness glass sustaining wide changes in temperatures.
